Arsenal u16 stars Daniel Oyegoke and Charlie Patino have been called up by England for the Montaigu Tournament, with the team playing their first match on Tuesday.
Oyegoke (16) and Patino (15) were both starters in the Arsenal team that recently finished as runners-up in the u16 Premier League Cup, so it’s no surprise to see them getting chances in the national team. They’ve both travelled to France for the Montaigu Tournament, an u16 competition involving the following eight nations:
- England
- Argentina
- Brazil
- Ivory Coast
- Spain
- France
- Mexico
- Portugal
In England’s group are Argentina, Ivory Coast and Portugal, but the Young Lions got off to a disappointing start with a 2-1 defeat to the Argentinians. Nonetheless, Arsenal’s Oyegoke had one particularly positive moment, winning a penalty in the latter stages of the match. Unfortunately, his England teammate missed the spot-kick.

Oyegoke started and played the full match, whilst Patino will be hoping for a start against the Ivory Coast on Thursday. After that, it’s a quick turnaround for the third and final group stage match against Portugal on Saturday. Good luck to both of them throughout the competition!
