Arsenal sent scouts to watch Dennis Praet play for Sampdoria against Lazio at the weekend, amid rumours that they’re looking at the midfielder as an Aaron Ramsey replacement.

Calciomercato report that Arsenal have been monitoring Praet for some time now, and they sent scouts to evaluate his performance once again this weekend. Representatives for the Gunners were in attendance as Lazio won 2-1 against 10-man Sampdoria on Sunday.

Despite the defeat, Praet still played well on the day, as Arsenal try to analyse whether he’s worth a reported €20m investment.

Rumours in the Italian media last week suggested that’s how much Sampdoria would want for the player who has two goals and two assists in 30 Serie A matches this season. At 24 years old and with two years left on his contract, this is the right time for the club to sell, if they want to.

Unai Emery and his transfer team have done business with Sampdoria before, of course, convincing the club to part with Lucas Torreira last summer. We’ll see if Arsenal are convinced Praet should be a summer target this time around.
