Arsenal’s interest in Djené last summer has pushed up the player’s release clause meaning he will now cost €40m.
That’s according to reports coming out of Spain amid Atletico Madrid’s interest in the Getafe man that Arsenal tried to sign last summer.
Arsenal’s interest in the player, however, does not seem to be dead just yet with AS reporting Unai Emery recently watched him live.

As Arsenal tried to purchase him last summer they allegedly got up to around €25m-€30m however that was not enough for the La Liga side to sanction the sale.
Djené is a centre-back who can play in either slot or as a right-back or defensive midfielder. Now 27, he is under contract with Getafe until 2023.
WhoScored list Djene’s tackling as ‘very strong’, and they also list concentration and ball interception as the defender’s strengths.
According to their analysis, his passing is very weak, but this is likely due to the fact that Getafe, as a whole, have the worst possession stats in the entirety of La Liga.
