Arsenal are reportedly considering giving Danny Welbeck a new contract that would include a lower basic wage topped up with performance-related bonuses.

Danny Welbeck has been at Arsenal since 2014 but three serious injuries have limited him to just 124 appearances with 32 goals (29 in 142 at United). He is out of contract in teh summer and most expected him to leave.

That being said, Welbz is a firm fan favourite and I’m sure there are many in the Arsenal fanbase would be happy to see him handed a new deal.

It makes sense for Arsenal to consider handing him a new contract. They are, after all, having to watch what they spend in the upcoming transfer window and if they can secure a third striker who is happy to sit on the bench without paying a transfer fee then that’s win-win for them.

Danny, however, may not be so happy with that prospect after missing out on so much football due to injury during his career.

Newcastle, West Ham and Everton are all interested in the England man and could guarantee him far more football than he will get at the Emirates going forward unless something awful happens to Lacazette and Aubameyang.

Emery is said to be a fan of Welbeck’s versatility.
