Alex Iwobi has leapt to the defence of Mesut Ozil stating he IS a team player despite parts of the press wanting us to believe otherwise.

“He always provides an excellent pass or something, a good move or play that leads to a goal, or almost leads to a goal,” Alex Iwobi told The S*n in the wake of Martin Keown’s comments about the German that called his lack of game time ’embarrassing’.

“Mesut is a great player and he also works hard off the ball.”

The narrative around Mesut Ozil is significantly lazier than the player pundits often accuse of the same.

In addition, Ozil had a summer that saw his entire nation turn on him yet little, if any leeway, was given by the media in terms of how this might affect him.

There are those who feel that, just because you earn £350kpw, your life should be problem-free but that’s simply not the way it goes at all.
