Unsurprisingly, the defenders ended up receiving the highest ratings in Arsenal’s 3-0 aggregate win over Napoli. Though goals from Aaron Ramsey and Alexandre Lacazette surely played a part in the victory, it was the clean sheet at the Emirates Stadium that really allowed the Gunners to feel confident ahead of the second leg.

Similarly, avoiding conceding the first goal in Naples stopped that commanding lead from slipping away from Unai Emery’s side in the intense Italian atmosphere.

As a result, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Laurent Koscielny, Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles ended up making WhoScored‘s team, and it’s hard to deny that they all deserved it. Koscielny and Sokratis had no easy task dealing with Napoli’s speedy forwards, and the two wing-backs supported both the defence and the attack excellently throughout.

Those four have been crucial to Arsenal achieving six clean sheets in their last seven competitive matches. Let’s hope they can keep it up in the final few weeks of the season.
