Folarin Balogun has now surpassed the 30-goal mark for this season, scoring twice in Arsenal’s final Dallas Cup group stage match to keep an incredible run of form going.

Arsenal’s 2019 Dallas Cup ended in disappointment, as two wins and one defeat ended up leaving them a couple of goals short of qualifying for the semi-finals. There wasn’t much more Folarin Balogun could have done though, as he scored three goals in his two appearances in the competition.

In total, that brings Balogun to 31 goals and seven assists in all competitions in 2018/19, broken down as follows:

  • Arsenal u23s – Premier League 2: 5 appearances (0 starts), 1 goal
  • Arsenal u21s – EFL Trophy: 1 appearance (0 starts)
  • Arsenal u19s – Dallas Cup: 2 appearances (1 start), 3 goals
  • Arsenal u18s – U18 PL, U18 PL Cup & FA Youth Cup: 23 appearances (23 starts), 27 goals, 7 assists

Clearly, the 17-year-old hasn’t quite had the opportunities at the u23/u21 level to make his mark there yet. He’s yet to start and has only played 81 minutes in total, so scoring one goal is still not bad.

At the lower levels, however, Balogun’s record is fantastic. To score 30 goals in 25 appearances is impressive enough, before adding in the seven assists. There’s still another league game or two left for him to add to his total too.

What’s just as pleasing to see is that most of this came after the striker signed professional terms with the club. Balogun agreed his first professional deal with Arsenal on February 13th, and he’s contributed to 20 goals in 13 appearances since then. That’s one way to celebrate a new contract. Let’s hope for a few more in the coming weeks.
