Bernd Leno’s double save against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday has drawn praise from the club’s former goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, which has pleased some Arsenal fans.

Right as the first half of the North London derby was drawing to a close, Christian Eriksen found himself free in the penalty area one-on-one with Leno in the Arsenal net. His shot was saved, but it rebounded to Moussa Sissoko in a great position to fire it home for an equaliser.

Just when it looked like he’d put it in and Spurs would be level, Leno pulled off his best save of the season to tip the ball over the bar. It was a fantastic stop and one worth watching again:

Clearly, ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Szczesny was just as impressed as the Arsenal supporters, posting flame emojis in response to the video.

That went down well with the Arsenal supporters, who feel Szczesny is still one of them despite his recent departure to Juventus.

It’s nice to see that the former Gunner is still enjoying the North London derby games as much as when he was a player. The goalkeeper won four of his eight matches against Spurs, only losing two. Of those four wins, he kept two clean sheets in 1-0 victories and the other two were the famous 5-2 thrashings.

The goalkeeper didn’t appear on the pitch as Juventus knocked out Spurs from the Champions League last season, but he still took the opportunity to mock their fans afterwards. It’s hard not to love him for that.
