Sam Greenwood scored another goal on Friday to keep his strong form for the u18s going, but he also impressed supporters with some nice close control.

Greenwood joined from Sunderland in the summer, and he’s since scored eight goals and assisted three in 16 league games for Arsenal. His recent form has been particularly impressive, failing to contribute to a goal in just one of his last six games in the division.

Those achievements come in spite of the fact the striker has had to play out wide for most of the season, to accommodate one of Arsenal’s biggest centre-forward talents in Folarin Balogun. The 17-year-old has had to adapt his game, and he’s certainly developing his close control skills, as he showed by beating a couple of Chelsea players:

Greenwood is a big part of the u18 team that has now won seven league games in a row in the race for the league title. Though they’re currently four points clear in first place, Tottenham Hotspur have two games in hand, so the eventual league winner could come down to the North London derby between the two clubs in April.

In three games against Chelsea and Tottenham (second and third place) so far this campaign, Greenwood has one goal and two assists. Hopefully, he’ll keep having an impact in the big matches and lift the trophy at the end of the season.
