Former Arsenal academy striker Stephy Mavididi made the bench for Juventus’ first team on Friday, as he starts to settle in with his new club.

Mavididi took a while to adapt after his summer move to Juventus this summer. He’s solely appeared for their u23 side so far, but he was struggling to get on the scoresheet in Serie C particularly often. However, that’s changed in the last month.

The striker went on a run of scoring in three consecutive games, and he spent more time in first-team training:

Clearly, the former Gunner did enough to impress coaches during those sessions and u23 matches, because he got a call up to the senior squad for Friday’s Serie A match against Udinese. Though the 20-year-old didn’t make an appearance, it’s clearly a step in the right direction and a good thing for his continued development.

Mavididi was sitting on the bench alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Leonardo Bonucci, Georgio Chiellini, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic, among others. He also seems to have befriended Blaise Matuidi, who posted a picture of the pair to his Instagram story.

Mavididi still has a long way to go, but it would be great to see an Arsenal academy product succeeding with a top club like Juventus.
