Earlier this week, Mundo Deportivo wrote that Arsenal joined Manchester United in chasing Barcelona centre-back Umtiti. The Gunners are, reportedly, hoping that Raul Sanllehi’s connections with the La Liga side could help to give them an advantage in negotiations.

Theat report suggested there’s a feeling that Barcelona need cash to try and complete high-profile signings like that of Matthijs De Ligt, which could see them leaving the door open for Umtiti. However, it reportedly depends on how the player finishes the season in Spain.

The Bein Sports piece builds on that, adding that Umtiti is competing against compatriot Clement Lenglet and that Barca will have four top centrebacks at the club and that they will be ‘strongly encouraged’ to let go one of their two French centrebacks.

Bein also claim that, although Manchester United are ‘very interested’ in Umtiti, he is not a priority for them.

The 25-year-old is currently valued at £63m.
