Unai Emery wants to make three signings this summer, including Celtic defender Kieran Tierney, according to reports.

The Mirror claim the Gunners want to make a trio of signings, with left-back as one of the key areas to strengthen. Though Sead Kolasinac is having a good season, he continues to prove more effective at left wing-back than in the full-back position, and Nacho Monreal is 33 years old with an expiring contract.

As a result, Arsenal plan to rival Leicester City for the signature of 21-year-old Tierney, currently playing for Celtic. The Scottish international has a contract to 2023 and he’s made 35 appearances this season, so it won’t necessarily be easy to convince his club to sell. He’s scored once and assisted six goals this campaign.

Leicester could prove fierce rivals for the signing too. They reportedly want Tierney as a replacement for Ben Chilwell, who is being targeted by Manchester City. If City pay their usual £50m+ to get their signing over the line, Leicester are going to have plenty of cash to work with.

Perhaps the player himself would push for a move to Arsenal though. He’s more likely to get European football in the English capital (Champions League or Europa League, we don’t know just yet) and starts won’t be any harder to come by than with Leicester when Nacho Monreal leaves this summer or the next. We’ll see.
