Arsenal are still interested in signing Ander Herrera from Manchester United on a free transfer this summer as the midfielder still hasn’t found an agreement with the club after 18 months of negotiations.

Perhaps things will change with the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, which is expected to happen this week but, as it stands, Herrera is out of contract in the summer and looks to be leaving on a free.

Speaking to the media, Herrera gave something of an update. “It is logical [to be linked with other clubs] when you have three months of contract [left],” he told El Periodico. “I take it as normal. I focus on football in the month and a half [of the season] that remains.

“The rest is left to my agent, both the possible renewal with United and if you talk to another club, so I do not know if my stage is over.

“I enjoy being at the biggest club in England. The fans have treated me phenomenally and my duty is to listen to them, although I do not know what is going to happen.”

From that quote you can see that the player would prefer to stay.

He’s hardly going to call united the ‘biggest club in England’ if he’s wanting to leave urgently.

Herrera has three goals and three assists in 25 appearances this season. Since he arrived at Old Trafford in 2014, he has scored 20 and assisted 27 in 186 games.
