Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey are doubts for Arsenal clash with Newcastle United next Monday, after picking up injuries over the international break.

James Benge of Football.London writes that Xhaka was forced off with injury against Denmark, and he’s reportedly suffered an adductor injury. This was confirmed by Swiss manager Vladimir Petkovic after the game.

Meanwhile, Ramsey had to withdraw from the Welsh squad for treatment after a knock to his thigh didn’t heal in time for their second fixture of the break, despite Ryan Giggs’ earlier claims that it should. Football.London write that Ramsey faces tests but there is optimism he’ll recover in time.

If both were out, that would leave Arsenal with some real problems, considering Lucas Torreira is also suspended. Matteo Guendouzi could easily fill in, but after that, it would mean moving Ainsley Maitland-Niles into the middle or gambling on Mohamed Elneny to make his third start of the league season.

Still, neither Ramsey nor Xhaka has been completely ruled out just yet. It’s very possible one or both of them return in time for the match. Fingers crossed.
