Folarin Balogun reached 20 u18 Premier League goals for the 2018/19 season on Saturday, as he battles to try and become the country’s top scorer at that level.

Since signing his first professional contract with Arsenal in February, Balogun’s form in the u18 Premier League has been incredible.

The striker has now scored nine goals and assisted three in just six games, without even completing 90 minutes in any of them. The latest goal came during a 45-minute appearance for the striker in Arsenal’s victory over Swansea on Saturday.

Averaging two goal contributions a game is a crazy record, and it means Balogun is now catching up with the country’s top scorer in the league, Everton’s Ellis Simms. Simms has 23 goals, but only four to Balogun’s nine since the beginning of February, so his lead is fast disappearing.

Both clubs have three games remaining, but Arsenal also have the potential to feature in the final play-off between the winners of the u18 Premier League North and South divisions. We’ll see which of the two strikers ends up on top.

For now, it’s just good to see Balogun in such fantastic form as the u18s fight for top spot in the league. He was wisely withdrawn at half-time on this occasion ahead of the North London derby on Tuesday, which could well decide first place.
