Earlier this week, Julien Laurens told Premier League Today that it appeared Unai Emery wasn’t impressed with Suarez in training, and that’s the reason the 25-year-old hasn’t received more opportunities so far.

In our article on the subject, we suggested this appeared to be guesswork from Laurens, rather than inside information. Suarez has seemingly confirmed that’s the case, posting on his Instagram story to say: “Don’t talk about my workouts if you have no idea.”

It’s not the first time Suarez has publicly responded to media rumours since joining Arsenal. After the initial reports came out that the Gunners were looking to send him back to Barcelona in the summer, the midfielder posted on Instagram to say he was back in training with a smile, and “let them keep talking” along with a shushing emoji.

If the people questioning his ability to make it at Arsenal spur the Spaniard on to show his best form over the next couple of months, that would certainly give the squad a boost.

The Gunners only really have Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan as wide options right now, with eight games to play in April alone. Unai Emery is going to have to rotate at some point, and a fired-up Suarez could make a good alternative. Let’s hope that’s how he responds on the pitch.
