Arsenal are set to promote Steve Morrow to form part of a three-man sporting team to support head coach Unai Emery, according to reports.

The Daily Star on Sunday claim that Morrow will be promoted from his current role as head of youth scouting to join the new three-person team. He’ll work with club scout Francis Cagigao and a third unconfirmed appointment.

Previously, former AS Roma sporting director Monchi was in line for one of the three jobs, but he ended up returning to Sevilla. As a result, it’s still unclear who will join Morrow and Cagigao.

Raul Sanllehi is reportedly keen on former Barcelona colleagues Antoni Zubizaretta and Robert Fernandez, but it’s seeming more and more likely Arsenal will promote from within at this stage.

Morrow being in line for a promotion isn’t new information. We reported on the rumour back in early February. The difference now is that most of the external candidates have ruled themselves out of the race with new roles or new contracts, so it’s looking a lot more likely this one will come true.
