Back in September, Newham district coach and Tunmarsh school teacher Terry Bobie Agyekum set up a new football club called Levels FC. The intent behind forming the club is that it would give young boys the “opportunity to receive good coaching and play and train in a safe environment”.

So far, it’s all going very well. The team has already earned their first promotion, and 10-year-old Gbajumo caught the attention of several Premier League clubs in the final few months of the year.

As a result, the left-footed defender, who can also play in midfield, was placed on an eight-week trial with Arsenal. After some impressive performances including a man of the match award against Crystal Palace, Gbajumo completed his move to the Gunners.

Level’s FC coach and founder Agyekum said of the move: “As a club, we are extremely proud of Davon and we pray he goes on to be great. This is a great day for the young man and a great day for Levels FC. Hopefully, Davon can be a shining light to all our players that they too can go onto to play at a high level if they believe and work hard.”

It’s a proud moment for the player, his old club and his family. There aren’t many better places for the youngster to develop his game than with Arsenal. Hopefully, he enjoys his time in North London and makes the most of his potential!
