Arsenal have withdrawn Xavier Amaechi and Tyreece John-Jules from international duty with the England u18s so the pair can take part in the first team’s trip to Dubai.
Both Amaechi and John-Jules were named in the England u18s’ squad to face Japan, the Czech Republic and Mexico in the UAE Sports Chain Cup over the international break. However, the duo were then absent for the opening 4-1 victory over Japan, with their non-appearance not explained by Arsenal or England.
On Thursday morning, it all became clear when Arsenal posted a picture of their travelling squad for the trip to Dubai. Amaechi and John-Jules joined a number of senior players and a few other academy stars in preparing to make the trip for a couple of weeks of warm-weather training and a mid-season friendly against Al-Nasr Dubai SC.
The full travelling squad is as follows (from left to right in the above picture):
Hector Bellerin, Denis Suarez, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Charlie Gilmour, Xavier Amaechi, James Olayinka, Dominic Thompson, Tyreece John-Jules, Ben Sheaf, Rob Holding, Jordi Osei-Tutu, Danny Welbeck, Julio Pleguezuelo, Carl Jenkinson, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Bernd Leno, Alexandre Lacazette, Petr Cech, Shkodran Mustafi, Zech Medley, Mesut Özil and Arthur Okonkwo.
Laurent Koscielny is also hiding in the background, and he’ll join the rest of the squad on the trip too.
Here are a couple of videos of John-Jules and Amaechi in action for the Arsenal academy:

Bukayo Saka and Xavier Amaechi in 2019 so far. 5 games (excl. West Ham), 8 goals, 4 assists and more.
Both on top form right now, give this a watch then tell me they couldn’t add anything to our first team. #AFC @BukayoSaka87 @XavierAmaechi pic.twitter.com/wWaeAX802j
