Arsenal haven’t forgotten Paris Saint-Germain star Christopher Nkunku after their failure to land him in the January window, and they sent scouts to watch him again this week.

French outlet Le10Sport report that Unai Emery hasn’t lost sight of his former player, despite Arsenal’s January move falling through. The Gunners sent a scout to watch PSG play against Dijon earlier this week, with the aim to follow Nkunku’s performance, and the club remain well-positioned to make a further bid.

PSG had no trouble with their match on Tuesday, breezing past Dijon 4-0. Nkunku played 76 minutes and did well enough playing on the right-hand side, completing 94% of his passes, creating one chance and completing one dribble.

He was dispossessed a few times though, and it didn’t quite match up to some of his recent games such as the win against Nimes on 23rd February (one goal, one assist) or Montpellier on the 20th (one goal, three chances created). In total, the 21-year-old has four goals and two assists in 24 appearances this season.

Something that might count against Arsenal’s pursuit of the youngster is the recent reemergence of Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The two players are at a similar age playing similar positions with similar rates of success, so it might be better to just give the Arsenal man more responsibility and look elsewhere on the pitch for new signings.
