Grimaldo plays as a left-back for Benfica, which makes it all the more impressive he’s managed seven goals and seven assists this season. Part of the reason for that high total is that he’s been such a consistent fixture in their side, making 43 appearances already. Nonetheless, it’s clear his final ball has been excellent in the campaign so far.

That was true again over the weekend, as the 23-year-old provided a crucial assist in a 1-0 victory by Benfica over Tondela. The home side had reached the 84th minute without finding the breakthrough, but Grimaldo’s early cross fell perfectly for Haris Seferovic to head home. Watch it in the video below from 4:13:

It was Grimaldo’s third goal contribution in three games, after a goal and an assist in the last two. Arsenal are reportedly on the lookout for a left-back, scouting the Spaniard as one of their targets. Rumours suggest the Gunners have already been in contact with Benfica over a summer move.

Mundo Deportivo add that Grimaldo is ‘one of the most sought-after young players’ on the market right now though. They claim Arsenal are joined by Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Manchester City in the race, among others. We’ll see who ends up landing the talented full-back.
