Two Arsenal youngsters started the England u17s’ friendly match against France on Thursday, with Sam Greenwood playing up front and Yunus Musah wearing the armband for the clash. Arsenal’s Kido Taylor-Hart was also on the bench for the fixture.

England had to come from behind to pull off a 3-2 victory, after falling 2-1 down in the first half. Just three minutes after the restart, Greenwood scored an equaliser, before adding the winner in the 63rd minute.

As a result, Arsenal’s summer signing now has seven goals in eight games for the England u17s, scoring in all but two of his appearances. The 17-year-old also scored in his last two starts for the u18s, bringing him to six goals and two assists for his first season with the club, one goal contribution every 106 minutes.

Considering he’s had to play out wide at times to accommodate the impressive Folarin Balogun, Greenwood’s record for the first season with his new club is more than solid. He only turned 17 less than a fortnight ago, but he already looks like one to watch in the next few years.
