Fox Sports journalist Martin Liberman claims Arsenal have joined the ‘fight’ for the left-back, and they’re willing to pay his release clause. According to the Argentinian reporter, the Gunners are prepared to offer an ‘irresistible’ contract to the 26-year-old, as they look to fill their problematic left-back position.

Though Sead Kolasinac has been excellent at times playing left wing-back this season, there are still doubts about his abilities in a back four. Plus, his injury record really isn’t great. Nacho Monreal is more comfortable at left-back but just turned 33 and also can’t stay fit for more than a month or two. He’s also currently running down his contract.

As a result, Arsenal may well look to invest in the position this summer, to avoid more instances of Granit Xhaka playing there. Tagliafico has been excellent for Ajax since joining in January 2018, and he’s also been a consistently strong performer for Argentina over that period.

We’ll have to wait and see if Liberman’s report is reliable, as there are plenty of other left-backs linked with a move to Arsenal. Read on to find out more.
