After Arsenal failed to complete the January transfer of Ivan Perisic, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign the winger in the summer window, according to reports in Italy.
Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) claim that Perisic is ‘betrothed’ to Spurs, and he sees the club as an ideal opportunity for him to play in the Premier League.
The 30-year-old hasn’t had much luck with his attempts to transfer to England so far, with Manchester United links falling apart in the last couple of summers and the Arsenal deal crumbling towards the end of last month. However, this latest report suggests Perisic is still chasing a move elsewhere.
According to Calciomercato, a bid of €30m would be enough for the Croatian international’s services, and Giuseppe Marotta won’t stand in his way if he asks to leave again.
Perisic has returned to the Inter Milan starting eleven for the last couple of games, after briefly dropping to the bench as the Arsenal speculation hit its peak. In all competitions, the winger has three goals and five assists in 27 appearances this season.
It seems a bit unlikely Tottenham would spend €30m on a 30-year-old after spending nothing on anybody for the past couple of windows. The stadium move is clearly restraining them financially, so we’ll have to wait for more reliable outlets to confirm this rumour.
