Yannick Carrasco’s wife has confirmed that Arsenal and Manchester United are both ‘very interested’ in signing her husband, but nothing has been signed at this stage.

TMW write that Carrasco is aiming to return to Europe in the current transfer window, just a year after leaving Atletico Madrid for Chinese team Dalian Yifang. He’s hoping for a transfer to the Premier League, and his wife Noemie Happert says there are a number of clubs involved in the race for his signature, one of which is Arsenal.

“Many clubs are interested, nothing concrete, nothing has been signed yet,” Happert said. “Are United and Arsenal interested? Yes, they are very interested, I do not hide it, but nothing is over yet.”

Reports earlier this week suggested Arsenal had held a meeting with Yannick Carrasco’s agent, with a departure from Chinese club Dalian Yifang looking ‘increasingly likely’. French outlet Foot Mercato (via GFFN) reported that Arsenal met with Carrasco’s representatives on Tuesday, and talks apparently went very well.

Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira reports that Dalian Yifang are already looking for a replacement for Carrasco, by trying to bring in Dimitri Payet of Olympique Marseille. Schira claims Arsenal are offering the Chinese club a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season, though Dalian Yifang prefer a permanent deal.

Carrasco has had a good season in China, scoring seven and assisting nine in 26 appearances in all competitions. You’d expect nothing less from someone who was previously playing for a top European club.
