On Wednesday, Arsenal announced the signing of 27-year-old winger Katrine Veje who cancelled her contract at Montpellier, but what do we know about what she will bring to the Arsenal side?

Katrine Veje is a Denmark winger who was a Euro 2017 runner-up. She mutually cancelled her contract with the French side after failing to settle and perform in the country. Homesickness might well have played a part as it is not the first time she has had problems away from home.

The 27-year-old’s stats with Montpellier show that things did not work out there with only eight goals in 31 games played during her 18 months in the country. She also grabbed four league assists in the same period of time.

Veje is a flying winger who lit up the Euros in the Netherlands but only showed glimpses of her talents during her time in France.

At Arsenal she will be hoping to rediscover her form, using her attacking skills, pace and crossing ability to help Arsenal as they look to win the title.

Adding an extra left-footed player to the squad is a good idea with the only Louise Quinn, Emma Mitchell and Katie McCabe lefties at the club.

Team balance is important and it would help, especially if one of the two wingers/left-backs gets injured.

Considering Arsenal’s current attacking style of play, Veje should, in theory, fit really well on the left wing and provide plenty of goalscoring opportunities for the centre-forwards, especially Anna Miedema.
