Petr Cech has highlighted a major mistake in a statistic posted by BT Sport on Monday, surrounding the goalkeeper’s clean sheet total.

At 36 years old, Cech has been around in the Premier League for a very long time. For many years with both Arsenal and Chelsea, he’s kept tonnes of clean sheets and challenged for the Golden Glove, winning it once with the Gunners and three times with the Blues.

However, when BT Sport posted a tweet comparing the Czech goalkeeper’s Premier League clean sheet tally with David De Gea’s, they somehow managed to get the total completely wrong.

According to the tweet, Cech only has 161 Premier League clean sheets, but the reality is he’s at 202. I took a look at the figures and it appears BT missed Cech’s first two seasons with Chelsea, when he managed 24 and 17 clean sheets respectively. Take those two campaigns off the total and you get 161.

Needless to say, Cech wasn’t impressed with BT’s attention to detail:

You’d think they’d remember when Cech passed 200, considering all the media attention surrounding it. For those needing their memories jogged, the goalkeeper kept out a penalty from Troy Deeney as Arsenal won 3-0 that day. Let’s hope BT Sport learn their lesson and double check their figures next time.
