Although Arsenal sit five points ahead of Chelsea in the Women’s Super League, Joe Montemurro doesn’t believe the Blues can be ruled out of the title race as the sides get ready to face each other on Sunday.

Arsenal are two points clear of Manchester city with a game in hand but it’s still all to play for this season as they look, at the very least, to return to the Champions League.

Speaking ahead of the game on Sunday, the Arsenal head coach was full of praise for Chelsea. “They have a phenomenal squad and there’s no way in the world I’ll write them off,” Montemurro told BBC Sport.

“They’re very much a complete team. We need to be on song for the big test. It’s going to be an amazing showcase, in regards to the quality and the style of the game.

“We need to understand that they [Chelsea] are still the reigning champions. They are a team that, all over the park, can find solutions.”

Chelsea’s manager, Emma Hayes, had this to say: “It’s a huge game, not only for us and for Chelsea, but for the game itself.”

Arsenal welcome Chelsea on Sunday at 12.30 as they look to secure their first title since 2012.
