Lucas Torreira has denied that Aaron Ramsey has asked him about his time in Italy, despite the Welshman’s reported impending transfer to Juventus.

Aaron Ramsey is edging closer and closer to an exit from Arsenal, after over a decade with the club. The Welshman’s contract comes to an end in June, and reports suggest he’s closing in on a pre-contract agreement to join Serie A side Juventus after that.

In fact, the latest rumours suggest that the deal has progressed so far that Ramsey has already held the first part of his medical with his new club. However, former Serie A star Lucas Torreira insists he hasn’t spoken to his teammate about playing in Italy.

A reporter from Di Marzio asked Torreira whether he’d talked with Ramsey about the move, and what he’d said, to which the Uruguayan midfielder responded: “No, no, nothing, no.”

To be honest, it wouldn’t be too surprising if that’s the truth. For a start, Ramsey and Torreira barely even share a common language, considering the 22-year-old has only just started to learn English.

Nonetheless, Torreira would likely have positive things to say about his time in Italy if Ramsey did ask. He clearly has a strong connection with Sampdoria, despite only spending a few years there. It doesn’t seem like Ramsey needs much more convincing anyway.
