Juventus will try to sign Aaron Ramsey this month, if they can reach an agreement with the player, rather than waiting until the summer when they could have him for free.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, talks between Juventus and Ramsey’s entourage ‘will be finalised soon’. There are a number of other clubs interested, like Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Liverpool, but the Serie A side are in ‘pole position’ right now.

Calciomercato sources report that if Ramsey agrees to choose Juventus over the alternatives, they’ll try to convince Arsenal to sell ‘immediately’. They don’t want to wait until the summer, and they could reportedly offer Sami Khedira in a swap deal to convince the Gunners.

You’d think Juventus would have players that would be more likely to convince Arsenal to sell than Khedira. Daniele Rugani, for example, the highly-rated centre-back who can hardly get a game for them right now. Plus, Khedira only recently signed a contract extension to stay in Italy until 2021.

Regardless, the key thing to take away from the report is that Juventus are keen to do a deal in the winter window. If Unai Emery really doesn’t see a future for Ramsey in his team, then it makes much more sense to move him on now and bring in a replacement. We’ll see what they decide.
