Julian Nagelsmann says Reiss Nelson is making a ‘very good impression’ in training, and he’s in contention to make Hoffenheim’s squad to face Fortuna after injury.

Nelson didn’t feature for Hoffenheim in either of their last two fixtures, after suffering a minor injury over the winter break. However, it seems the Arsenal forward is back and available for selection again, impressing his loan boss Julian Nagelsmann in training.

Even before the injury, Nelson had started to find his minutes a bit more limited, with just one start since November 4th. He was still coming off the bench regularly, but no more than that.

That’s normal for a first full season in senior football though. The 19-year-old has already proven he can have an impact for the club in big moments, but his all-around game is understandably still going to need some work to reach the same level as the more senior professionals.

From the sounds of things, Nagelsmann has made it clear what Nelson needs to work on now, which can only be good for his development. Let’s hope he’s back in the team and scoring this Saturday.
