Ivan Perisic is set to start Inter Milan’s match against Torino on the bench, as speculation surrounding his future starts to build, according to reports in Italy.

Corriere dello Sport (via Football-Italia) claim Inter are set to drop Perisic for Sunday’s clash with Torino, as they invite Arsenal to match the player’s €40m price tag. La Gazzetta dello Sport add that Perisic is demotivated after failing to get his move to the Premier League last summer.

This is no surprise, considering the winger said last November (via Sport): “I’ve always said it’s my dream (to play in the Premier League) and in football everything is possible. We’ll see what happens in the future, now I’m focused on Inter.”

Gazzetta.it add that the Croatian international ‘has requested a transfer’ as Arsenal probe for a loan. David Ornstein has confirmed that The Gunners have ‘made an approach’ to sign Perisic, hoping for a loan with a £35m option to buy.

Inter Milan aren’t interested in a loan with an option though. According to CalcioMercato, the Serie A club will only accept an outright offer of €35m-40m, or a loan with a compulsory purchase clause, not an option.

Sky Sport Italia (via Football-Italia) have also ruled out any possibility of a swap deal involving Mesut Özil, despite all the rumours surrounding the German’s future after his recent absences from the Arsenal starting lineup.

As with the potential deal for Denis Suarez, it doesn’t seem like Arsenal will have any trouble convincing the player to join, but they’re still a fair way apart when it comes to an agreement with the club. We’ll see if that changes in the final few days of the transfer window.
