Arsenal look set to complete their move for Barcelona’s Denis Suarez ‘imminently’ if the Spanish media are to be believed.

In a busy day for updates, here are the main ones:

Denis Suarez could complete his move to Arsenal early this week, with reports in Spain describing the midfielder’s switch from Barcelona to the Premier League as ‘imminent’.

According to Monday’s edition of Spanish newspaper Sport, the transfer of Denis Suarez to Arsenal is getting closer and closer. The player already gave his agreement to the Gunners ‘days ago’ and all that’s missing is finalising a deal between the two clubs. Now, talks are ‘advanced’ and everything points to a decision early this week.

It’s fairly common knowledge by now that the two clubs are no longer talking about a permanent transfer. Instead, the most likely result is a loan deal with a small loan fee at the start and an option-to-buy this summer. That option clause is likely to be between €15m and €20m.

Sport claim Unai Emery has assured Suarez that he’ll get the opportunities with Arsenal that he’s been denied with Barcelona this season. The Spaniard has only made two starts in all competitions with his current club.

Meanwhile, there was another hint that a deal is edging closer this weekend, as Suarez was left out of Barcelona’s squad to face Leganes. In their previous nine games, the 25-year-old had made six appearances and sat on the bench a further two times, only missing out completely once before.
