Arsenal look set to complete their move for Barcelona’s Denis Suarez ‘imminently’ if the Spanish media are to be believed.
In a busy day for updates, here are the main ones:
Imminent arrival
Denis Suarez could complete his move to Arsenal early this week, with reports in Spain describing the midfielder’s switch from Barcelona to the Premier League as ‘imminent’.

According to Monday’s edition of Spanish newspaper Sport, the transfer of Denis Suarez to Arsenal is getting closer and closer. The player already gave his agreement to the Gunners ‘days ago’ and all that’s missing is finalising a deal between the two clubs. Now, talks are ‘advanced’ and everything points to a decision early this week.

It’s fairly common knowledge by now that the two clubs are no longer talking about a permanent transfer. Instead, the most likely result is a loan deal with a small loan fee at the start and an option-to-buy this summer. That option clause is likely to be between €15m and €20m.
Sport claim Unai Emery has assured Suarez that he’ll get the opportunities with Arsenal that he’s been denied with Barcelona this season. The Spaniard has only made two starts in all competitions with his current club.
Meanwhile, there was another hint that a deal is edging closer this weekend, as Suarez was left out of Barcelona’s squad to face Leganes. In their previous nine games, the 25-year-old had made six appearances and sat on the bench a further two times, only missing out completely once before.
Denis Suarez only wants Arsenal move, Emery gives him playing time promise
Despite reports at the weekend that Tottenham could wreck Arsenal’s move for Denis Suarez, Sport in Spain claim the player has only been talking to Arsenal and has no interest in any other clubs.

Tottenham are interested in a move for Barcelona’s Malcom and reports from the country at the weekend claimed that if that move went through Barcelona would be unwilling to allow Suarez to leave for Arsenal.
Fear not, however, as it seems the move is ‘imminent’ if Sport are to be believed today.

In addition to stating that the move is about to happen any day now, they also write [via Google translate], “The footballer already gave days his approval to his move to Arsenal days ago and was missing for finalizing the agreement between clubs. The talks are advanced, and everything points to that early this week might bring [the deal to a close].”
“In any case, the priority in these moments for Denis is to find a destination where he can enjoy football again.
“Talks between the clubs have been more fluid in the wake of the decision taken by the player only to move from Barça to play at the Emirates. Denis did not want to try another team where there existed the risk of not enjoying minutes. In return, Unai Emery gave him [reassurances] that Arsenal would have the opportunities that he has been denied by Ernesto Valverde. The technical Blaugrana was informed that the transfer is to close to the gate and for this reason [Suarez] not included in the list of summoned for the party of yesterday in front of the Leganés.”
In other words, Suarez has made it clear he wants to move to Arsenal, the deal is almost agreed and that is why he was not included in the Barcelona squad for their game against Leganes on Sunday.
Barca won 3-1.
Denis Suarez messages Watford man about playing for Arsenal
Denis Suarez has reportedly been chatting with Watford’s Gerard Deulofeu about playing for Arsenal.

The pair played for Spain’s u21s together and also spent time together at Barcelona and on loan at Sevilla under Unai Emery.
Watford’s training ground is close to London Colney and Spanish publication Sport, reports, “Their friendship led them even to choose the same neighbourhood where they reside [in Spain]. Denis and Deulofeu were neighbours in Seville, where they spent many hours together. The destiny has wanted to get their lives back to find the same destination, in the case that finally crystallizes the transfer of Denis Suarez to Arsenal.

“Deulofeu is delighted at the prospect of being reunited with a friend who not only has shared the clubs, but also career in the Spanish under 21s. Both have exchanged messages in the past few days, and Gerard has already spoken to Denis that in the Arsenal will have a habitat very conducive to success.”
It was also reported in Spain on Monday that Suarez’s loan move to Arsenal is ‘imminent’.
Sport write in a second article, “After completion of the pass of Munir to Seville, Denis will be the next change of scenery in the winter market. The conversations with the club ‘Gunner’ are too advanced, he will go on loan until 30 June.”

Suarez is expected to join on loan until 30 June with an option to buy that is not mandatory.
