After a couple of months on the sidelines, following an ankle injury that required two surgeries to fix, Danny Welbeck appears to be making good progress towards a return. Most recently, he posted a picture to his Instagram showing that he’s back in the Arsenal training centre on his feet and undertaking physical exercises:

This is another step forward for Welbeck after he tweeted out the first pictures of himself without his cast last week. He was carrying out his rehabilitation in the Arsenal swimming pool at that stage, but now he’s back on his feet without the water to help him.

Before his injury, Welbeck had scored five goals and assisted one in 14 appearances this season (seven starts). He’d had to settle for a spot in Unai Emery’s Europa League and League Cup teams, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette preferred in the Premier League.

The forward got his head down and worked hard anyway though, which was well appreciated by the fans. Hopefully, he can make a speedy recovery and help Arsenal in the run in at the end of the season, before his contract comes to an end this summer.
