Van de Donk was a late withdrawal from the Arsenal squad that played Chelsea on Sunday. Manager Joe Montemurro said she had picked up the problem in training and that the club didn’t want to take any risks with her, hinting it was a small problem.

She has, however, been left out of the Dutch squad that has travelled to South Africa for a training camp that will last until 21 January.

Van de Donk has been one of Arsenal’s standout players this season and her loss to injury is a massive blow. Hopefully, she can return from the thigh problem in time for Arsenal’s game against Reading at Adams Park on 27 January.
