With the news coming this week that Petr Cech was set to retire from football at the end of the season, most of us wondered if that meant we would be getting a new keeper or if they would finally give Emi Martinez a chance.

A new keeper is, apparently, the way we are going if this story is to be believed.

The 18-year-old, who currently plays for Cruzeiro’s B team, reportedly rejected an offer made to him by Arsenal ‘during the last two days’. He will, instead, play for Chievo Verona until the end of the season and then join Inter Milan in the summer.

Inter’s 18-year-old forward, Felice D’Amico, will then move to Chievo as their ‘reward’.

Full name Gabriel Nascimento Resende Brazão, I’m not going to lie and pretend I know anything about him other than this news means Martinez should probably start looking for a new club.

He’s 26 now – the same age as Bernd Leno – and has made just six Premier League appearances in his eight years at the club.

Leno, by contrast, has 16 in six months.
