AS Roma director of football Monchi is on Arsenal’s list of names for their new technical director job, but there’s no timeframe yet on when the position will be filled.

Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, better known as ‘Monchi’, is tipped to become part of Arsenal’s new team following Sven Mislintat’s departure.
According to the BBC’s David Ornstein, the club are likely to fill the ‘head of recruitment’ role internally, by promoting long-standing scout Francis Cagigao. However, they’re looking outside for a new technical director, and Monchi is one of the names being considered.
The appointment could be a massive boost to Arsenal, particularly Arsenal under Unai Emery. Monchi and Emery worked together for a few years at Sevilla, and they enjoyed massive success, most notably winning three Europa League trophies.
The division of duties was exactly what the club needed, with Emery focusing on his players on the pitch and in training, whilst Monchi worked off the pitch to bring in the right players to help out.

Monchi’s system at Sevilla was rather similar to the model Arsenal already try to employ. He helped to develop the club’s youth system, allowing the likes of Sergio Ramos and Jose Antonio Reyes to break through, then he also made intelligent signings, like Dani Alves and Ivan Rakitic.
If he could repeat the trick with a club the size of Arsenal, it would be great news for the future. We’ll see if the Gunners decide to bring him in, but there’s no real deadline for the appointment, as Ornstein confirmed in his update.
