Arsenal have reportedly placed a bid of €16m with Real Madrid for Keylor Navas, who posted an apparent farewell to the fans on Instagram this week.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Navas has already said goodbye to his Real Madrid teammates, as he prepares to leave the club this month. Arsenal are reportedly winning the fight against AS Roma for the goalkeeper, after placing a €16m bid for his services.

A number of clubs have been sending offers for Navas to evaluate in the last few weeks, but there’s no final decision just yet. It certainly seems as if he plans to move on though, posting “thanks for everything” and a picture of himself with the Real Madrid fans on his Instagram story:

Navas hasn’t played a minute of league football since August, nor any Champions League matches since the midway point of the group stage in October. His only appearance since then was against Spanish third tier side UD Melilla.

Arsenal only brought Bernd Leno to the club over the summer, but with David Ospina seemingly close to finalising his move to Napoli, Petr Cech’s contract expiring at the end of the season, and Emi Martinez also linked with a transfer away, they could well need another goalkeeper.

At the moment, Cech isn’t really challenging Leno’s position, so perhaps it makes sense to bring in someone who would. However, if it’s at the expense of a new centre-back, Arsenal fans are unlikely to be too pleased.
