Thierry Henry wants to bolster his Monaco defence and a report from France claims he is eyeing up Laurent Koscielny as a possible option which is just madness given the state of Arsenal’s defence.

The club, if they can help it, are trying not to move in the January market. Although Laurent Koscielny is out of contract in the summer and this could be the only chance the club have of recouping any money for him, it seems slightly incredulous that they would spend seven months to get him back, celebrate is return as if it was a triophy and then flog him a few weeks later when we have half a fit defender left in the squad.

That last nit might be a bit of an exaggeration, but you get what I mean.

The original report seems to come from Nice Matin who aren’t renowned for spreading total nonsense.

Henry is also said to be targeting Gary Cahill, a much more realistic target. He is also out of contract in the summer but unlike Koscielny who is likely to stay at Arsenal, Chelsea have already made it clear Cahill can leave.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Cahill.
