Arsenal are planning a €45m bid for Hirving Lozano, according to reports, with competition from Inter Milan and FC Barcelona.

Fox Sports report that Arsenal and Barcelona lead the chase for the winger in January. Inter Milan are also interested, particularly after he scored against them to knock them out of the Champions League earlier this month.

Les Transferts report that the 23-year-old ‘could be the subject of a great offer from Arsenal’ of €45m. The main source of their information appears to be Don Balon, which isn’t a particularly reliable outlet. However, Fox Sports also claim a €45m bid is what the Gunners would need to make for Lozano to land him in the winter window.

As well as that goal against Inter Milan, Lozano also scored against Spurs and provided an assist in the home fixture against Inter in the Champions League group stages. Domestically, he’s been even more impressive, with 10 goals and seven assists in 16 league games this season.

He also scored twice in Champions League qualifying against Arsenal’s Europa League knockout stage opponents, BATE Borisov. His current form suggests he could certainly repeat that trick in February if he did join the Gunners.

Despite all his goals this season, Lozano’s biggest strength is in creating chances for his teammates with open play key passes, set pieces and crosses. Arsenal could certainly use someone like that in wide areas supplying Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. We’ll see if the Mexican international’s price tag puts them off.
