Jamie Redknapp picked Lucas Torreira in his Team of the Week on Sunday, after the Uruguayan midfielder scored an overhead kick against Huddersfield Town.

Redknapp’s team was mostly dominated by Liverpool and Chelsea players, after the former went top of the table and the latter ended Manchester City’s unbeaten record in the league. However, one Arsenal star managed to sneak into the eleven, and it’s no surprise who it was.

Lucas Torreira has been racking up the Man of the Match awards recently, impressing in pretty much every league start he makes.

Arsenal fans were already delighted with their summer signing before he scored his first goal against Tottenham, but since then he’s added an assist against Manchester United and this latest goal against Huddersfield in consecutive matches.

Torreira’s main qualities remain his ability to win the ball back for Arsenal and to break up attacks from the opposition. He’s clearly finding some confidence in front of goal though, with one excellent first-half shot turned wide by a diving Huddersfield goalkeeper, before he eventually found the net with a bicycle kick.

Arsenal have the 22-year-old to thank for seven points out of nine in a very tough week, so he’s more than deserving of the praise he’s getting in the media right now. Long may it continue.
