Arsenal are apparently weighing up a ‘great signing’ for January according to a report from Spain that claims Arsenal are eyeing up a move for Rennes’ star, Ismaila Sarr.

This is far from the first time that the club have been linked with a move for the 20-year-old. Over the weekend it was reported that Arsenal have offered the French side goalkeeper Emi Martinez plus a cash bonus of €16m to sign winger Sarr, according to the media in Sarr’s home country of Senegal.

Wiwsport.com wrote that Unai Emery is very fond of Sarr, and he’s planning to go on the offensive for the player in January. Arsenal have made an offer of €16m plus Martinez to sign the 20-year-old. The Senegalese outlet claim it’s a possibility the forward does end up leaving the Ligue 1 club in the winter window.

The report makes sense, considering earlier this week we heard that Stade Rennais were interested in signing Martinez anyway, and they’ve made contact with the goalkeeper over a move. Yahoo Sport FR claimed the French club are looking to replace current goalkeeper Tomas Koubek, who is reportedly leaving the club next month.

The 5ft 11 right-footer, who prefers to play on the left wing, is valued at around £12.6m, however, a small report in the Daily Mail recently claims that he could cost almost double that at £20m.

He is under contract until 2021 having only just signed for Rennes, from Metz, in the summer of 2017.

Sarr has eight goals and six assists in 23 appearances so far this season.
