Arsenal are reportedly set to move for Club Brugge striker Wesley Moraes, after scouting the 22-year-old in recent months.

The Daily Mail write that Unai Emery is trying to strengthen his front line by signing the Brazilian in January. With Danny Welbeck sidelined for the foreseeable future with injury, reinforcements would certainly be welcome up front, particularly if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette keep playing every single league game.

Responding to the rumours, Club Brugge manager Ivan Leko says he believes his striker is certainly good enough to play for Arsenal.

“I’m sure Wesley has the level to play at Arsenal, he can be proud of what he’s been doing for the last 6 months,” Leko told Belgian outlet DH. “He’s working hard and he’s reaping the rewards, but to play in the Premier League you have to work harder every day.

“Am I worried about the rest of the season? There are smart people at the club who are preparing for the future and anticipating departures. What will happen with Dennis, Wesley or Vanaken at the next transfer window, I do not care yet.”

Back in August, stories started to emerge about Arsenal scouting the striker, alongside a number of other top European clubs. Since then, the 6’3″ star has 10 goals and four assists in 22 appearances, including two goals against AS Monaco in the Champions League.

As a result, it’s no surprise to see further rumours about Arsenal preparing for a January move. According to the Daily Mail, Wesley would cost £15m, but it’s really up to Club Brugge how much they sell for, as the striker still has a contract until 2023. We’ll see if the Gunners decide he’s worth the investment.
