Arsenal are ready to listen to offers for Mesut Özil, even though the 30-year-old wants to stay, according to reports in Germany.

German outlet Bild claim the Gunners are ready to receive bids for their star playmaker, but the player himself wants to stay ‘as long as possible’.

Özil reportedly isn’t keen on a move to Inter Milan, one of the clubs who previously made him an offer, but could imagine switching to the MLS in a couple of years time. David Beckham’s club Club Internacional de Futbol Miami has apparently already made contact.

It seems Bild’s information that Arsenal are ready to listen to offers is mostly just based on a report from The Times though. The part about Özil wanting to stay is seemingly their own information, but the part about the Gunners preparing to sell is just the same recycled news we’ve heard from the media in England already.

It very quickly became fashionable to link the former Real Madrid man with an exit after he was left out of Unai Emery’s squad on Wednesday against Tottenham Hotspur.

Other than The Times, the Mirror also reported that Arsenal were ready to listen to offers, the Daily Mail claimed Emery is running out of patience with the star, The S*n added that the Gunners have already set a £30m price tag to offload the German, and so on.

We’ll have to wait for the frenzy after one non-appearance to die down before we can establish the truth of the matter.
