Arsenal will go into Wednesday night’s clash against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup knowing that they will have at least one fit defender.

I kid, it’s not quite that bad, but the news that Stephan Lichtsteiner is fit after picking up a problem at St Mary’s means it’s not as bad as it could be.

Hector Bellerin will be assessed ahead of the game while Shkodran Mustafi has still not shaken off the hamstring problem he picked up. He will also be assessed but is unlikely to play if previous updates about players being ‘assesed’ are anything to go by.

Dinos Mavropanos is, of course, still out with a groin problem that’s sidelined him for the whole season. He’s expected back in training this month. Then again, he was also expected back in training last month too. Rob Holding is, obviously, not available.

Emile Smith Rowe is, perhaps, the only other who would have featured against Spurs in the quarter-final at the Emirates, but he’s still carrying a hip problem and isn’t back in training yet.
