Arsenal are the most ‘fervent’ follower of Lille winger Nicolas Pepe, according to reports in France, but the Ligue 1 club are still reluctant to sell in January.

France Football claim that there’s a ‘jackpot’ coming for Lille after they made the decision to hold onto Pepe this summer. Since then, his transfer value has skyrocketed, with the club reportedly now only interested in offers exceeding €60m.

The club don’t want to sell in the winter window though, as they believe Pepe can help secure a Champions League spot.

According to France Football’s report, Chelsea, Tottenham and ‘especially Arsenal’ are the most ‘fervent’ followers of the winger. It’s no surprise he’s drawing so much interest, with 11 goals and six assists, as well as a couple of penalties won. He’s scored in all three of Lille’s games this month, so that form is showing no signs of fading away.

However, Lille’s form as a team hasn’t been so impressive recently. They only have one win in their last six games, and they’re clinging onto second place on the basis that most of the teams below them have played one game fewer.

If they continue to struggle to pick up points and look like dropping out of contention for the Champions League places by next month, perhaps Pepe would be more likely to push for a move sooner rather than later. We’ll have to wait and see.
