Alexandre Lacazette has reacted on Instagram to Marouane Fellaini’s hair-pulling incident in Wednesday night’s draw with Manchester United.

For anyone who missed the incident, Fellaini grabbed a chunk of Matteo Guendouzi’s hair and yanked it back, to stop the Frenchman getting away from him. Under normal circumstances, you’d expect at least a booking for the Manchester United man, but at Old Trafford, the referee gave nothing more than a free-kick.

After the game, Lacazette reacted to the incident on social media. Instagram account 433 posted a picture captioned “best caption wins” to which the Arsenal striker responded “#WhysManDoingThis”:

Guendouzi quickly became close with Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after joining the club in the summer, and it’s good to see them backing him up in incidents like this. It’s easy to forget the midfielder is still just a teenager, particularly when 31-year-old players like Fellaini are the ones acting childishly.

Despite clearly breaching the rules, Fellaini won’t be punished for the incident. Since the referee gave a free-kick, the FA consider the matter closed, regardless of the fact that it was undoubtedly the wrong decision not to give the United man a card.
