According to the current chatter, Arsenal are likely to sign left-footed winger, Katrine Veje, to help with the current injury situation.

Katrine Veje, the Denmark winger who was a Euro 2017 runner-up, has just mutually cancelled her contract after failing to settle and perform in France. You do wonder if homesickness played a part as it is not the first time she had problems staying away from home.

The 27-year-old’s statistics with Montpellier clearly show that things did not work with only eight goals in 31 games played in 18 months. She has also four league assists in the same period of time.

The flying winger that lit up the Euros in the Netherlands only showed glimpses of her talent during her time in France.

Hopefully, if she does sign for Arsenal as expected, she can re-discover her form and bring her attacking skills, pace and crossing ability, qualities that have been crucial for her national team.

Denmark did not qualify for the World Cup after finishing as runner-up in their qualifying group and losing in the first round playoffs to the Netherlands.

Adding an extra left-footed player would also be a good idea with the only lefties in the squad Louise Quinn, Emma Mitchell and Katie McCabe.

Team balance is important and it would help, especially if one of the two wingers/left-backs is injured.

Considering Arsenal’s current attacking style of play, Veje would, in theory, fit really well on the left wing and provide plenty of goalscoring opportunities for the centre-forwards, especially Anna Miedema.
