Unai Emery hailed the ‘big atmosphere’ at the Emirates as Arsenal drew 1-1 with Liverpool on Saturday.

Many people expected Arsenal’s clash against Liverpool to go one way but the Gunners impressed with a strong and determined display that asked real questions of the side Jurgen Klopp has taken three years to turn into title challengers.

As the team battled for every ball on the pitch, the crowd in the stadium responded. More than one pundit and commentator mentioned how loud the Grove was on Saturday evening.

Speaking in his press conference after the game, Unai Emery told reporters, “One characteristic of Liverpool is the intensity and their big players, so today was a good test for us.

“We need more, I think we need more in our work and tactically also, but the spirit is how we want it and also the atmosphere today was very big with the supporters pushing for 90 minutes.

“Today is a very good spectacle for them and for us.”

Arsenal have often come in for criticism for their atmosphere but the truth is, outside of huge matches against the big sides, all the top grounds struggle to create an atmosphere regularly.

Even the famous ‘Anfield Atmosphere’ only ever turns up when the TV cameras are present for a massive match, and that’s no guarantee.
